Talos has acquired Skolem to enable clients to incorporate DeFi into their workflows in a move that sets a new standard for the digital asset OEMS and PMS.

Talos is going to enable clients to incorporate DeFi into their workflows. This is the result of the newly announced acquisition of Skolem, a technology provider that enables institutional investors to access decentralized finance (DeFi) markets.

Skolem is known for its institutional-grade data and execution infrastructure that enables institutions to trade, stake, lend, and provide liquidity in DeFi.

The acquired firm’s data infrastructure allows for real-time streaming of prices and on-chain metrics, while its user-driven execution technology includes pre-transaction simulations, configurable alerts, order automation, and full transaction accounting.

A digital asset OEMS and PMS that incorporates DeFi end-to-end

Talos believes that, as institutional interest in DeFi grows, so too will the demand for a comprehensive technology stack that can provide safety, advanced user execution, and risk management when accessing protocols. Talos is thus investing in the foundations necessary to enable institutions to interact with the complex DeFi ecosystem and to incorporate on-chain data into their workflows.

Anton Katz, CEO and Co-Founder of Talos, said: “DeFi is playing a growing role in the digital asset ecosystem and we’ve seen increasing interest from both crypto-native and traditional institutions. Institutional demand is driven by access to liquidity for a broader range of emerging assets as well as novel opportunities to deploy digital assets. Skolem’s pioneering technology will position Talos to set a new standard for the digital asset OEMS and PMS – one that incorporates DeFi end to end.”

This is not the first venture into DeFi. Last year, Talos integrated with Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange, to enable clients to more efficiently trade thousands of assets, in a familiar order book format, using Talos’s algorithms. Talos also integrated with Figment, the provider of institutional infrastructure for Ethereum staking, making the staking activity of shared clients viewable on the Talos platform.

Talos M&A activity also saw the firm acquiring Cloudwall, the digital asset risk management technology provider, as well as D3X Systems and its suite of portfolio engineering tools for systematic investors.

Talos partnered with TP ICAP and Crossover Markets

Earlier this month, Talos welcomed Crossover’s CROSSx institutional crypto trading venue into its existing provider network that connects digital asset exchanges, OTC desks, prime brokers, lenders, custodians, and more, through a single point of entry.

This year, Talos also integrated with TP ICAP’s Fusion Digital Assets, a UK-regulated spot digital asset exchange. By teaming up with the FCA-regulated market structure firm, the provider of institutional digital asset trading technology will be able to further facilitate institutional adoption of digital assets amid the accelerated growth of cryptocurrency markets buoyed by the US SEC’s approval of Bitcoin ETFs and the EU’s MiCA coming into effect this year.

Fusion Digital Assets provides a competitive trading venue with unique liquidity from both traditional and crypto-native clients of TP ICAP. Talos clients will have access to this liquidity through both API and GUI interfaces.
