Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain continues to set and break records every other day. However, many people aren’t aware of its capabilities, even within the Bitcoin ecosystem, says Fredrik Keitel.
Keitel, a blockchain enthusiast, was one of the attendees at the B2029 meetup in July. The special meetup came alongside the IEEE COINS conference in Berlin, where blockchain, Web3, artificial intelligence (AI), and IPv6 were the focus. The attendees at the meetup discussed the conference, their takeaways, and how the Bitcoin community in Germany can supercharge its growth.
Conferences and meetups about emerging technologies continued even during the COVID-19 pandemic, although they were relatively smaller, said Keitel.
“The organizers of this event are helping make the public more aware [of Bitcoin and blockchain],” Keitel told CoinGeek Backstage host Becky Liggero.
B2029 is a haven for Bitcoin enthusiasts in Berlin, where they discuss, build, and learn about blockchain technology. It has hosted many of the industry’s thought leaders, from Dr. Craig Wright and SmartLedger’s Greg Ward to Project Babbage’s Ty Everett and Gate2Chain’s Joe Holles de Peyer.
For Keitel, the way forward is to have a better fusion of the technical experts with the novices, noting that improving the bridge between players working on the theoretical side and those using the BSV applications would help the world understand the technology better.
“Sometimes, the theoretical side can be a bit too dry. The IEEE conferences attract an interesting but narrow profile of Bitcoin enthusiasts. It would help to bridge both worlds in the future,” he said.
Blockchain adoption has grown massively over the years. The technology now anchors critical applications, from trade finance and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) to commodity trading and supply chains. However, Keitel believes that we’ve barely scratched the surface.
“There’s a lot that blockchain will enable in the future, but most people are not aware of it, even in BSV.”
