Augmented reality (AR) solutions firm Taqtile recently announced it had upgraded its world-class platform, Manifest, for industrial and defence XR clients. With the new features, firms can enhance how they conduct inspections and locate faults in equipment and processes.
The announcement comes ahead of their attendance at the Augmented Enterprise Summit from 24 to 26 October, where the Seattle-based firm will showcase their latest upgrades in Houston at the event.
What’s New in Manifest v2.8?
With Manifest v2.8, people using the platform can flag, track, and manage faults in their infrastructure during inspection processes. This provides clients with greater inspection capabilities to build streamlined, more efficient facilities.
This also empowers companies in their digital transformations, moving from paper to wholly digital processes for instantaneous monitoring, and lowering instances of human error.
Despite inspections becoming a vital and key part of the industrial and defence sectors, these can lead to time-consuming, wasteful, or inefficient processes. Often, these procedures also cause inaccuracies in reporting with paper notetaking and recording.
However, with Manifest 2.8, the fully digital inspection tool can enhance the entire operation by addressing issues in real time, building streamlined workflows, and providing remote guidance to inspectors with step-by-step instructions.
Manifest 2.8 also captures key insights into the problems at hand, including fault locations, times, and causes. Teams can then log and track these data points with fault management and resolution teams, providing rapid response times on critical faults.
These kinds of rapid turnaround times are essential in industrial processes, where factories have to operate at optimal capacity to supply markets with products, without the threat of long equipment downtimes. Additionally, for the defence sector, many require agile, adaptive XR solutions to repair equipment, locate faults, and receive crucial information while on the battlefield or after deployments.
Latest Upgrades
For Taqtile’s Manifest 2.8, the software platform will provide upgrades across supported hardware devices, allowing:
Spatially-anchored faults on equipment via head-mounted displays (HMDs), iPads, and other compatible mobile devices like AR smart glasses to rapidly and easily locate faults detected in equipment and infrastructure. Workers can then access them across the Manifest platform for easy interoperability.
Administrators can assign fault notes complete with specific information like photos, fault history, pen annotations, and documentation to resolve issues more easily and quickly.
Engineers can associate faults with non-procedural work tasks, rather than preassigned jobs, to delegate to team members, mark them as standalone tasks, and track them independently.
Organisations can also create audit trails and reports of inspections for reports, removing excessive paperwork and limiting errors in the reporting process.
